About the event

The People's Republic of China is home to the world's fastest growing economy. Its annual Gross Domestic Product of USD 9.1 trillion is second only to that of the United States of America. Beijing, China's capital, with a population north of 21 million, is an important driver of China's overall economy. More than 700 foreign multinationals firms and research and development centres – including 50 Fortune 500 global companies - are headquartered in Beijing.

Despite its importance to China's economy, Beijing has faced certain challenges in attracting and retaining talent. The purpose of this event is to identify these challenges, share best practice, and develop strategies for building the talent pipeline with the goal of adapting existing talent management systems.

Summary

China has now become the third largest market in the world in terms of premiums. While China continues to be an important growth market for Swiss Re, operating in China does present certain challenges. Among those challenges are attracting and retaining talent. Members of Swiss Re's Asia Management Team including Moses Ojeisekhoba, CEO Reinsurance Asia and Qin Lu, President of Swiss Re China recently attended an Expert Hearing on talent in China at the Centre for Global Dialogue, co-sponsored by the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce, to discuss this challenge, share best practice, and develop strategies for building the talent pipeline.
