Cardiovascular health risk factors in China and the implications for insurance

15 April 2015, 9:00-15:30, Shanghai time

Organised by Swiss Re Centre for Global Dialogue
Location: Shanghai, China

About the event

China is becoming more prosperous. Urbanisation and changing lifestyles have created rapid shifts in human behaviour and health profiles, most notably a shift from infectious to non-communicable diseases, and one of them is cardiovascular disease. It has been the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in China in recent years, challenging current public health provisions and insurance funding models.

You are cordially invited to join the first event in a new seminar series organised by Swiss Re titled "Cardiovascular health risk factors in China and the implications for insurance".

This event will introduce the Systematic Explanatory Analyses of Risk factors affecting Cardiovascular Health (SEARCH) collaboration, a joint research initiative by Swiss Re and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The World Health Organization is our advisor and facilitated access to data sources. Come to our event to get first-hand views of the research which will provide significant contribution to the understanding of future health and mortality trends.

The event will feature a presentation by one of the authors who analysed the most important risk factors leading to cardiovascular disease, along with risk transfer tools that aim to protect health insurance policy holders against such occurrences.

Health matters - the risks China faces are considerable, the opportunities potentially huge.
