Roger Baumann

Roger Baumann's main area of responsibility is the management of several new project and product initiatives. The most recent initiative was to ensure a successful launch and implementation of the first sustainable real estate fund in Switzerland, the Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund Green Property.
The fund's investment strategy is monitored by "greenproperty", a sustainable rating system and quality seal and the first green building label in Switzerland to cover all aspects of sustainability.
Having headed the development and implementation of the "greenproperty" quality seal, Mr Baumann is currently responsible for rolling out the sustainability strategy within Real Estate Asset Management. He also oversees the entire portfolio of over CHF 26bn assets under management.
Mr Baumann joined Credit Suisse in 2005. He has been in his current position since 2006.

Christopher James Baumgartner

Christopher Baumgartner is a claims professional working in Swiss Re's Large Corporate and Specialties claim department in Zurich.
He joined the company in 2003, having handled direct insurance claims as a paralegal and later as a claims manager since 1982. Mr Baumgartner has been involved in architectural and engineering and home builder claims for 21 years. He has written numerous white papers and given presentations on claim issues and trends involving the construction industry.
Mr Baumgartner started his career with Aetna Casualty and Surety Company. He studied business at the State University of New York, with a minor in statistics, and also attended Adelphi University, Garden City, New York where he undertook paralegal studies.

Theo Bosma

In his parallel capacity as regional director, Theo Bosma is responsible for innovation and new business development within KEMA. He combines economic knowledge with his skills in project management and management experience aided by his technical background. This enables him to figure out new connections and solve problems in an unusual, innovative ways.
Mr Bosma is an experienced consultant on new energy technologies with thorough knowledge of the production, transmission and distribution of electricity. He is involved in consultancy duties for small and medium-sized businesses, multinationals, and national and international authorities.
Besides working as a consultant he is also a project manager in national and international co-operational and multi-client projects. On the technical side, Mr Bosma has over fifteen years of working with polymers. Moreover, he has been involved in the development of CO2 separation, electricity storage and ion exchange membranes, both at a technical level and in projects, for several years.

Albert Cheung

Albert Cheung leads the Energy Smart Technologies team at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the world’s leading provider of industry information and analysis to investors, corporations and governments in clean energy, low carbon technologies and the carbon markets.
The team produces in-depth research and analysis on emerging technologies such as the smart grid, power storage, green buildings, energy efficiency, advanced vehicles and fuel cells. Mr Cheung's work is focused on digital energy, including smart grids and demand response.
He also led the research efforts of the BNEF Consortium on Digital Energy throughout 2009-10, and conducted the 2009 International Clean Tech Returns Analysis, the leading study of venture capital returns in the industry.
Mr Cheung previously worked as a consultant at Booz & Co and studied for his M Eng in Electrical & Information Engineering at the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Miodrag Comagic
Senior Risk Engineer, Swiss Re
Miodrag Comagic is responsible for utility guidelines and best practices, supporting underwriters in selecting risks and in calculating loss estimates.
Before joining Swiss Re in this role in 2006, Mr Comagic was a claims manager and risk engineer with Allianz Suisse International Corporate Business for four years. This was his first contact with the insurance business. Due to his technical background he was involved in assessing many machinery breakdown losses around the world.
Previously, Mr Comagic worked as a gas turbine designer, commissioning engineer and project manager for nine years, first with Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) in Switzerland, then with Alstom. He was involved in numerous international gas turbine projects and in developing three of these projects. Among his major projects were the design, commissioning and test run coordination of the gas turbine test centre in Birr, Switzerland (1997-1999), and the conversion of a 2,000 MW thermal power plant in Poryong, South Korea.
Miodrag Comagic graduated in 1993 as a mechanical engineer.

Jonas Debatin

Jonas Debatin recently completed a research project at Swiss Re on the topic of sustainable construction and its potential risks. He gained experience on the topic of sustainable building as a research assistant to the Chair of Sustainable Construction and Building Physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). He has completed several internships in various segments of the building industry, including real estate advisory at PWC, total contracting at BAM Germany and civil engineering at Arup.
Jonas Debatin studied architecture, civil engineering and industrial engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zürich, Switzerland where he is currently completing his master’s thesis on the impact of monetary policies on international housing prices.

Vincent Eckert
Head Internal Environmental Management, Swiss Re
Heading this department since 2007, Vincent Eckert is responsible for defining strategy for the internal environment management group-wide. His team manages the Swiss Re greenhouse gas (GHG) neutrality programme, including GHG reporting and related compensation.
Mr Eckert is also the executive director of the Swiss Climate Foundation, whose development and the operation he manages. Initiated and funded by several financial and services companies, including Swiss Re, the foundation is dedicated to financing climate projects of small and medium-sized enterprises in Switzerland.
Previously, Mr Eckert worked for global manufacturing corporations as head of environment and safety and quality management, gaining wide experience in the corporate deployment of environment, health and safety (EHS) management systems as well as in the implementation of design-for-environment processes.
He holds a degree in environmental physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and an EMBA in Business Engineering from the University of St Gallen, Switzerland.

Patrick Eyer

Patrick Eyer was a senior underwriter property facultative before assuming his current role. He joined Swiss Re as an expert in natural perils in 1994, with seven years of experience as a project engineer in geotechnical and structural engineering where he had focused on hydro power, dam and earthquake engineering.
A civil engineer, Mr Eyer graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) in 1988.

Simon Felsenstein

Nick Hayes

Since assuming his current role in 2009, Nick Hayes has been responsible for a multi-million-pound turnover, focusing mainly on developing BRE's sustainability business. Previously, as Director of BRE's Sustainable Development Group, which provides integrated sustainability strategies for corporate clients and significant government contracts, Mr Hayes managed a team of over 60 specialists in sustainable development, energy technologies, energy modelling, design and procurement.
His career with BRE spans over 16 years. He joined the firm in 1994 after working in energy consultancy and M&E design. Mr Hayes is a chartered mechanical engineer with wide-ranging expertise, specifically in energy efficiency and management, and with extensive experience in the construction sector. An accomplished speaker, he is a regular presenter at conferences, seminars and industry events worldwide.

Lukas Küng
Director of Distribution and Member of the Executive Board, ewz
Lukas Küng has been serving as the Director of Distribution and as a Member of the Executive Board for ewz, the Zurich power utility, for four years and on the Swiss national committees of Cigré and CIRED for five years. As a member of the board of VSE/AES – the association of Swiss power utilities – he led the team that would design the Swiss distribution code.
Previously, Mr Küng developed the distribution services for ewz, enabling key customers to improve the reliability of grid connections. He joined ewz in 2001 after serving as a development manager with ABB for large AC and DC machines.
Mr Küng earned a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) in 1996, with a thesis on electric machines in hybrid passenger cars.

Helene Prigge

Helene Prigge was appointed to her current role as Head Risk Engineering Services Casualty in 2009. From 2001 she served as the Managing Director of AssTech, and continued as its head when it was integrated into Swiss Re’s Risk Engineering Services.
In 1991, Ms Prigge joined Swiss Re Group as a risk engineering consultant, assessing casualty risks and property risks in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, chemical industry, oil and gas and energy sectors and developing underwriting tools.
She previously worked in the chemical industry on silicon semiconductors in Burghausen, Germany and on high performance silicon solar cells in Sydney, Australia.
Ms Prigge received a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Munich and a degree in business administration from the Technical University of Munich.

Tobias Rinke

Tobias Rinke is working on developing Swiss Re’s risk landscape for the smart grid.
Mr Rinke studied mechanical engineering at Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany where he is currently completing his master’s thesis on control structures for stabilising the electrical grid with renewable energy sources.
Mr Rinke has completed several internships in the energy industry and worked for the International Energy Agency where he was project assistant on a solar PV energy technology roadmap.

Ralph E.H. Sims
Professor of Sustainable Energy and Director of the Centre for Energy Research, Massey University
Ralph Sims is Professor of Sustainable Energy at New Zealand’s Massey University, where he began his energy research career nearly four decades ago.
During a four-year engagement at the International Energy Agency (IEA), Professor Sims was a Nobel Peace Prize co-recipient in 2007 for his role as coordinating lead author of the "Energy Supply" chapter in the 4th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He is currently serving in a similar capacity for the "Integration" chapter of the IPCC's forthcoming Special Report on Renewable Energy.
Professor Sims has acted as a consultant to many energy companies. A chartered engineer, he is also a Companion of the Royal Society of New Zealand.

Heiner Tschopp

During his 34 years in the information technology field, Mr Tschopp held several management positions in sales and services. In 1999, he moved to IBM's European headquarters for the position of business information executive. Before joining IBM, he worked for two Swiss watch companies, the more recent of which he served as the assistant to the production manager.
Building on his technical background, Mr Tschopp completed various professional studies in electronics and commerce. In 1998 he graduated from the SKU Advanced Management Programme founded jointly by the University of St Gallen, the Swiss Foundation for Applied Psychology (SSAP) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH).

Holger Wallbaum

Holger Wallbaum is the Chair of Sustainable Construction at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland.
In 2004 he became the executive manager of mipsHAUS Institute GmbH for Sustainable Construction, Germany, having worked previously as a senior advisor at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. Professor Wallbaum was also a cofounder and managing partner of triple innova GmbH, a sustainability business and research consultancy in Germany.
Holger Wallbaum serves on various scientific committees and industry councils, associations and boards, e.g. the Technical Competence Centre of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (IISBE), the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB), the German Association for Sustainable Construction (DGNB), the Association of Swiss Engineers and Architects (SIA).
He studied safety engineering and environmental management at the University of Wuppertal, Germany, and safety engineering and risk management at the University of Mulhouse, France. He also holds a PhD in architecture from the University of Hannover, Germany.

Martin Weymann
Senior Risk Manager, Emerging Risk Management, Swiss Re
Martin Weymann is responsible for systematically identifying and assessing emerging risks at Swiss Re. He translates scientific and technical findings into reinsurance insights and business actions. In addition, he supports Swiss Re's efforts in sharing its risk knowledge with relevant internal and external stakeholders. External risk initiatives include the Chief Risk Officer Forum Emerging Risk Initiative, the WEF Global Risk Network and the International Risk Governance Council, among others.

Bernd Wilke

Bernd Wilke is an expert on environmental issues and human factor in Risk Engineering Services Casualty.
Since joining Swiss Re in 1998 he has worked on the development of risk assessment methodologies for different industries, including the oil and chemical sectors. He also assists in the environmental-liability area of emerging risk and provides support to the company's claims units.
