Systemic risk is being addressed by regulators across the world. Seeking to understand the lessons of the 2007-8 financial crisis, regulatory regimes are being constructed to take account of macro-prudential risk factors. Yet, as our second and third article consider, not all financial institutions are equal in the systemic risk they pose.
The financial crisis further highlighted the role of states in providing support to crisis-hit economies; but it also demonstrated the limits of state intervention, as explained by the European Economic Advisory Group.
