The future of emerging markets - Risk Dialogue Magzine special print edition

14 Feb 2012

Emerging markets are coming of age. As developed economies stall on debt and misfire on growth, the world becomes increasingly dependent on the emerging giants as the motor of global expansion. Yet the maturity of emerging markets brings its own challenges. Global politics and security will become more fluid and uncertain as developed economies retreat. Global economic imbalances remain, both on side of creditors as well as debtors. Some emerging markets are ageing even more rapidly than their developed counterparts. The opportunities offered by emerging markets remain great, not least for the insurance industry. The risks should not be overlooked.
