Biotechnology in its many manifestations is as old as civilization itself, and continues to play a vital role in our societies. From personal health to cleaning industrial waste, the use of biological agents in modern treatments and technologies remains a cornerstone of society.

Medical biotech is one of the most dynamic of industrial innovators. Treatments and therapies developed within this sub-branch have the potential to substantially alter life expectations among certain populations. As such it is important for re/insurers, with substantial books of life and health business, to pay close attention to this sector.
